Taking Action

May 15, 2012: A follow-up article in the Ottawa Sun highlights the damage done by music piracy, negatively impacting not only hurt the artist and the record label but everyone working in the supply chain.

Post a comment on the Sun's website to add your support:

- Music piracy is theft, no different from shoplifting a stack of CDs from a record store
- The people whose jobs and livelihoods are impacted by piracy are not 'fat cats' - they people who love music and dedicate their careers to it
- It's good for the Ottawa Sun to provide balance to their earlier article and show the negative impact of music piracy

A new article in the Ottawa Sun purports "all music should be free" - ignoring the work and investment that artists, songwriters, producers, and labels put into creating the music.

Add a comment on the Sun's website to give some perspective:

May 3, 2012:  The arguments used to justify pirating music simply do not hold water:
Live music and recorded music are both important revenue streams for the artist - and for a consumer to pay for one does not justify stealing the other.
There are many areas where artists choose to stream their music for promotion and previews - but when this choice is taken away from them, it's theft.
There are many legal and free options for music that compensate creators - consumers should use these services instead of pirating.
