Don't miss your chance to help choose a new Song for Canada!
By Amy Terrill on Aug 09, 2011
Ten aspiring songwriters have been
named as finalists in
Canada's Walk of Fame "Song for Canada" contest.
Earlier this year Canadians were invited to submit a 250 word poem expressing "the essence of Canada". 631 submissions were received and 10 finalists were announced yesterday.
While a panel of judges will help to select the final winner, the public also has a chance to vote. Each of the 10 poems are posted
online.
The "Song for Canada" will then be co-written, composed and arranged by Stephan Moccio (“I Believe”, 2010 Vancouver Olympics theme song). Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida will co-write the lyrics and work with Moccio on the melody. At least one line from the winning poem will be included in the final score.
The original song will be performed at the induction ceremony on October 1st.
In addition to the opportunity to work with acclaimed Canadian musical artists Stephan Moccio, Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida, the winner will receive a $25,000.00 Grand Prize and studio recording time at Metalworks Studios valued at $10,000.
Voting is only open until August 19th so read the entries and vote today!
