Inaugural Music Night on Parliament Hill an excellent display of Canadian talent
By Music Canada on Dec 13, 2011
Minister of Canadian Heritage James Moore hosted an intimate showcase of Canadian music at the
National Arts Centre in Ottawa on December 12th, featuring performances by the
Jim Cuddy Band and
Marie-Eve Janvier & Jean-François Breau.
The event was the first ever Music Night on Parliament Hill, following in the tradition of Moore's Movie Nights, a series "unabashed acts of Canadian-cultural boosterism" that have "become marquee, must-attend occasions in Ottawa," as
described by the Toronto Star's Susan Delacourt.
The event, organized by
Music Canada and
Quebecor, was well attended by a non-partisan crowd including Members of Parliament from various parties, Ambassador David Jacobson and his wife, as well as members of the media and representatives from Canada's recording industry.
Last minute guests were Prime Minister Harper and his wife Laureen Harper.
